Mary Ellen O'Connor's interest in the public sector and in unionism equipped her well to write this NZNO history. She has relished the opportunity to record the development of a high-profile female-dominated organisation. Mary Ellen has worked as a tertiary teacher most of her career and has published widely - textbooks, magazine and newspaper articles, and a school history. She has also taken a leading role in party politics and community campaigning.
